Thalo Labs

Hardware and AI tools that help HVAC contractors commission systems correctly and catch equipment failures before they become emergencies

Thalo Labs builds sensor hardware and AI software for HVAC contractors. Its two products - Gordon, a connected commissioning tool, and Sidekick, a cellular monitoring device - cover the full equipment lifecycle. Gordon guides technicians through pressure holds, vacuum verification, and refrigerant charge validation during installation, generating a digital certification report. Sidekick then monitors compressor health and refrigerant behavior continuously, sending alerts before a problem reaches the customer.

Why it matters

HVAC systems are one of the largest sources of energy consumption and refrigerant emissions in buildings. Poor installation and reactive maintenance make both problems worse: roughly 1 in 4 installs requires a callback, often due to refrigerant issues, and undetected leaks or undercharged systems run inefficiently for months or years. By catching refrigerant problems and compressor faults early - before a failure forces emergency repairs - Thalo helps reduce wasted truck rolls, refrigerant loss, and the energy penalty of degraded equipment. The company is NYC-based and currently in beta testing with commercial contractors.
