Carbonchain

Carbonchain is a blockchain-based platform that enables the trading of carbon credits, providing a transparent and efficient way to manage carbon emissions.

CarbonChain is a carbon accounting software platform serving manufacturers, commodity traders, and banks. It calculates Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across supply chains, generates product carbon footprints, and helps companies comply with regulations like the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The platform draws on asset-level data for over 11,000 commodity suppliers and integrates with ERP systems, trading platforms, and Excel files.

Why it matters

Heavy industry supply chains - metals, energy commodities, chemicals - are among the hardest sectors to decarbonize, partly because emissions data is opaque and fragmented. CarbonChain gives procurement teams, finance functions, and sustainability teams a single workflow to identify high-carbon suppliers, quantify carbon tariff exposure, and meet customer or lender requirements for verified emissions data. Its methodology is validated against the GHG Protocol and certified to ISO 27001, which matters when the outputs feed into regulatory filings or financing decisions.

The platform has processed over 2 billion tonnes of CO2 across millions of transactions and completed more than 500 CBAM declarations, giving it meaningful real-world scale in a compliance category that is still maturing.

How this is measured

We fetch every open role a company publishes and classify each one with an automated keyword-and-context filter. Roles that match sustainability, climate, environmental, or governance criteria are kept and counted as active; the rest are filtered out. This is one transparent signal of how much of a company's current hiring is sustainability-focused - it is not a verdict on the company, and it reflects only public job postings we have tracked, not the company's full operations.

The classifier is automated and imperfect: it can occasionally mis-classify an individual role, so treat small differences as noise. We only show this signal when we have screened enough roles for the numbers to be meaningful.
