Aviation accounts for a meaningful share of global transport emissions, and Airbus sits at the centre of efforts to reduce them. The company is pursuing several concrete decarbonisation pathways: scaling sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) use and compatibility across its fleet, developing hydrogen propulsion concepts, and researching hybrid and electric flight. It also tracks and reports Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, works on reducing non-CO2 effects such as contrails, and applies lifecycle thinking to aircraft design and end-of-life.
