WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will be responsible for developing and managing new and existing counterparty relationships whilst proposing and structuring carbon allowance and clean fuel credit sales in compliance markets in the US and Canada.
- Portfolio Collaboration: Collaborate regularly with Trading, Analysis, Contracts, Trade Operations, Regulatory, and other teams to achieve portfolio objectives and track evolving environmental policies
- Risk & Policy Adherence: Define and achieve commercial milestones while working directly under the execution authority of the Senior Portfolio Manager to ensure alignment with internal risk guidelines

- Relationship Sourcing: Actively research, target, and initiate contact with new market participants to expand 3Degrees’ counterparty footprint in compliance territories
- Trade Logistics & Shadowing: Partner closely with the Senior Portfolio Manager to shadow day-to-day trading activities and manage trade deliveries—including assigning long vs. short positions—to build a tangible understanding of buy-side and sell-side customer behaviors
ABOUT YOU
You are naturally focused and ambitious, a self-starter ready to make an immediate impact while cooperating with, and supporting, the existing North America Trading and Origination team. You are someone with a network of industry contacts within the carbon allowance and renewable fuels industry as well as developers and other renewable project owners or managers. Additionally, you must have exceptional ethics and be committed to our company values to ensure deal success and long-term profitability. We believe an individual with the following skills, experience and subject matter expertise would be well suited to be successful in this role:
- Industry Foundation: 2-3 years of experience working within a company heavily involved in environmental commodity trading or origination. We highly welcome individuals coming from operational, settlements, trade support, or analytical backgrounds who want to transition into a commercial path
- Market Exposure: A strong foundational understanding of what Clean Fuel / Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) markets are, or familiarity with Cap-and-Trade frameworks (e.g., California, Western Climate Initiative, RGGI)
- Systems & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with, or exposure to, clean fuel registries/compliance databases (such as California's LRT or Canada's CATS) and trading platforms (ICE trading tools like IceChat/WebICE) is highly preferred. Basic comfort running data queries via SQL is a strong plus
- Sourcing & Growth Mindset: An eager "hunter" who thrives on initiating new counterparty relationships from scratch. You bring a 60/40 balance of aggressive market outbound execution paired with the strong commercial instincts and consultative communication style required to manage counterparty dynamics and successfully onboard complex compliance buyers
- Quantitative Aptitude: Basic quantitative skills—such as exposure to options pricing or basic programming languages—are an advantage but not a deal breaker
- Adaptability under Pressure: Ability to maintain composure, pivot quickly, and stay resilient amidst volatile, fast-moving market swings and regulatory shifts
- Communication & Teamwork: A collaborative team player who excels at building authentic, long-term relationships with internal colleagues and external counterparties alike
- Sense of Humor: Highly encouraged! Our team is close-knit and collegial; we use a healthy dose of humor to navigate the ups and downs of volatile markets while remaining deeply committed to supporting one another
