Job description
THE WORK

As a Consultant – Grid Planning & Modelling Engineering, you will work with leading transmission and distribution system operators to solve complex grid challenges and prepare networks for a more sustainable future. From addressing grid congestion to planning network expansions and integrating sources, your work will directly contribute to shaping tomorrow's energy landscape.
This is a role for engineers who enjoy combining technical expertise with problem-solving, innovation, and client collaboration.
What You'll Do
Shape future energy networks
Support utilities and grid operators in planning and designing future-proof electricity networks that can meet increasing demand and accelerate the energy transition.
Solve complex grid challenges
Analyze and address issues such as grid congestion, network reinforcement, grid reconfiguration and integration.
Develop digital and automated solutions
Help clients modernize and automate grid planning and modelling processes, improving efficiency, accuracy and decision-making.
Turn data into meaningful insights
Leverage modelling results and data analytics to support investment decisions, planning studies and operational improvements.
Work alongside industry experts
Collaborate with experienced engineers, consultants and technology specialists on innovative projects across the energy sector.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Energy Technology, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.

2+ years of experience in power systems, grid planning, power network analysis or grid operations.

Knowledge of transmission and distribution network planning principles.
-
Experience with grid modelling methodologies and engineering studies.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
-
Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

Experience with load flow calculations, stability studies or dynamic power system analysis.

Hands-on experience with grid modelling tools such as PowerFactory, NEPLAN, Integral or similar platforms.

Experience automating grid planning or modelling activities.

Knowledge of scripting, data analytics, machine learning or AI applications in the energy sector.

Familiarity with European energy regulations, market structures and grid codes.

Certification in Agile, PRINCE2, PMP or other project management methodologies.

Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment.

Experience managing stakeholders and translating technical concepts into business value.
