Home food recycler that dehydrates scraps overnight into nutrient-rich grounds for gardens, chickens, or small farms

Mill makes a countertop food recycler for homes and commercial kitchens. The device automatically dehydrates and shrinks food scraps - including avocado pits and bones - overnight, reducing volume by 80% without odor or manual effort. The resulting dry, nutrient-rich grounds can go to a backyard garden, feed chickens, or be collected by Mill and routed to small independent farms.

Why it matters

Food waste is a major source of methane emissions when organic material rots in landfills. Mill attacks the problem at the source by keeping food scraps out of the trash entirely and converting them into a useful agricultural input. Rather than relying on municipal composting infrastructure, Mill creates a closed loop directly between households and local farms - a concrete diversion pathway that works even where curbside compost pickup does not exist.

Mill has expanded beyond residential use with a commercial product aimed at grocery and food service operators, and has built partnerships with local composting organizations and farms in cities including Los Angeles.
