As bp transitions to an integrated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. Bp's customers & products (C&P) business area is setting up a business and technology centre (BTC) in Pune, India. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale,  demonstrating  technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. Shift timings: 3 PM to 12 AM (IST)

About the role :

The Senior Licensing Advisor is responsible for partnering within the business to provide compliance services. The Advisor will also assist with procuring, renewing all business-related licenses for retail sites, to include management of licenses on company software and data bases. The Advisor will assist with the compliance of zoning laws and will assist with the management of regulatory enforcement actions, payments and store communications. The advisor will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely license renewals.

Senior licensing advisor is also responsible to manage complex licensing across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and timely resolution. Partner with the US‑based Licensing Manager to deliver special projects and support cross‑business priorities. Support training, onboarding, and operational set‑up of the Licensing team in Pune, building capability and consistency. Lead the implementation and rollout of the Avalara system across businesses, including system configuration, process alignment, and adoption support.

Role & Responsibilities :

  • Track licenses for renewal deadlines and to renew licenses online, mail or live checks

  • Obtain all necessary documentation necessary for timely license renewals from various parts of the business.

  • Engage with various entity corporate officers for signatures on licensing documents.

  • Communicate with the business on new sites, construction and remodels, which may require additional or new licenses.

  • Act as point of contact for stores with licensing requests or license copies.

  • Engage with the bp convenience stores reporting which may have an impact on licensing renewals.

  • Maintain a database of licensing restrictions, sales hours and bans (i.e. tobacco, single alcohol sales) by store or jurisdiction.

  • Complete reports or other analysis as directed.

  • Interact with all internal personnel as well as external agencies in a manner that is consistent with the Company mission, vision, values and diversity statement.

  • Assists with ongoing improvement of licensing.

  • Address business critical special requests/projects as required.

  • Attend project meetings as required.

  • Handle complex licensing cases.

  • Partner with the US Licensing Manager on special projects.

  • Support training and set‑up of the Pune licensing team.

  • Lead Avalara implementation across multiple businesses.

Experience Required :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or information systems. 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant business experience in licensing.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

  • Very analytical and good attention to detail.
