POSITION SUMMARY
This position is expected to perform financial accounting and reporting functions for the Anacortes, WA refinery. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position will be expected to assist business partners in resolving day-to-day issues. This position interacts with refinery personnel, including refinery management as well as other refineries, Findlay Refining BP&A and Findlay/SAT accounting. A motivated individual with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills is essential.
Although the preference is for this position to be at the Anacortes Refinery, other MPC Refining locations would be considered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in monthly financial closeout activities.

Prepare monthly financial entries to properly account for refinery expenses and other financial activity.

Prepare monthly account reconciliations

Participate in the development of refinery’s annual expense budget and monthly updates, and the analysis of actual versus budgeted expenditures.

Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and accounting systems, or financial applications as they arise.

Assist in special projects as assigned and provide back-up for other accounting functions as required.

Participate in the completion of the biennial Solomon Benchmarking Survey.

Strong communication skills are required to effectively receive and distribute information to other accounting department personnel, operational department personnel, various levels of management, and other MPC locations.

Displays advanced ability to utilize systems/tools, which may include, but not limited to Excel, SAP, BW, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Accounting degree preferred.

Minimum 3 years accounting/finance experience

Previous MPC Refinery Accounting experience desired

Previous experience working a large ERP is preferred.

Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel is preferred.

Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) a plus.

Periodic travel to the site is required (if located remotely).
