ROLE SUMMARY:

As an Engineering Skills & Development Lead, you will join the global Engineering Learning & Career Development team and support priority skill development for technical, soft skill and leadership development, with a strong emphasis on practical application and real-world engineering contexts. This role focuses on designing, delivering and continuously improving learning products for engineering communities.

You will work closely with engineers and engineering leaders to understand their day-to-day challenges, delivery environments and technology landscape, and translate those insights into relevant, scalable and engaging learning experiences. This role operates with a hands-on, product-oriented mindset, owning learning solutions end to end, from discovery and design through delivery, adoption and iteration.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Tailored Learning Product Solutioning: Design and deliver learning solutions that are grounded in learner personas and real engineering contexts, using self-paced content, hands-on labs, immersive experiences and social learning.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve learning products using data, feedback and experimentation to increase relevance, engagement and impact.

  • Performance Consulting and Collaboration: Partner with engineers and stakeholders to understand performance needs and ensure learning solutions align with both local priorities and global learning strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective performance consulting and learning needs analysis using data, insights and direct engagement with engineering teams to identify capability gaps and barriers to performance.

  • Co-create practical learning experiences with engineering teams and partners, ensuring solutions reflect real tools, workflows and delivery environments.

  • Design and manage learning solutions end to end, applying agile ways of working to plan, build, test and iterate learning content and experiences.

  • Develop and curate self-paced learning journeys supported by hands-on practice such as labs, simulations, accelerators or hackathons where appropriate.

  • Implement learning technologies, assessments and feedback mechanisms to measure adoption and effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

  • Drive engagement and adoption of learning solutions within the local engineering community through clear communication, stakeholder partnership and practical relevance.

  • Contribute to skills and capability frameworks to support current and future engineering skills needs across the organisation.

  • Align learning products roadmaps with business and engineering priorities, making effective use of internal expertise, partners and external providers.

To be successful in this role:

  • Comfort operating in a self-paced, iterative delivery environment, balancing structure with flexibility.

  • Ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions, prioritise work and demonstrate learning impact.

  • Hands-on approach to learning delivery, with experience or strong interest in labs, immersive learning or applied practice.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across engineering, technology and learning communities.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

You will own and support the evolution of our portfolio of learning products that support engineers at different moments of their journey, such as onboarding, skill transitions or adoption of new tools and practices. You will focus on making learning practical and usable, ensuring engineers can apply what they learn quickly and confidently in their work (non-exhaustive):

  • Comfort working hands-on with learning platforms, tools and technologies.

  • Familiarity with low-code tools, scripting or automation to support learning operations or reporting.

What it means:

What it is not:

Attract and develop

  • Attracts and engages diverse talent.

  • Champions development and grows capability for the future.

  • Focuses team on vision, inspires and enables them to achieve it.

  • Not just drawing on your regular networks to recruit team members and hiring in your own image.

  • Focusing development on a few individuals rather than the wider team.

  • Holding tight control rather than engaging and enabling the team to take ownership.

Connect to achieve

  • Reaches across the organisation to bring the right expertise and diverse thinking together.

  • Leads with trust, openness and humility.

  • Influences with insight and respect to deliver the best way forward.

  • Relying solely on existing relationships or ways of operating.

  • Delivering independently without feeling the need to engage more widely.

  • Depending on hierarchy as a means of influencing others.

  • Communicating using one preferred style.

Deliver outstanding execution

  • Aspires for excellence – sets, expects, and drives the highest standards for self and teams.

  • Agile and product-oriented: takes ownership of outcomes.

  • Motivates high performing teams to deliver without compromising quality.

  • Sticking to what is known, rather than taking a more flexible approach.

  • Waiting for authority to make decisions rather than taking personal accountability.

  • Taking shortcuts to achieve goals, compromising quality.

Bring thought leadership

  • Shows a deep understanding of and ongoing curiosity about customer needs, aspirations and trends.

  • Is adventurous, continually learns and challenges themselves with different thinking.

  • Communicates with credibility to inspire trust.

  • Depending solely on internal networks and past experience when developing solutions.

  • Strong preference for tried and tested methods rather than opening up a more dynamic debate.

  • Focusing on external developments without applying its use or relevance for LSEG.

Think strategically to create lasting opportunities

  • Spots opportunities to position the organisation for the long-term.

  • Applies good judgement and decision-making to pursue ideas that deliver sustainable value.

  • Ensures clarity of purpose, direction and priorities.

  • Seeing issues in isolation, taking a narrow perspective.

  • Taking sole responsibility for strategy and decision-making rather than seeking wider expertise or input.

  • Generating or following new insights not linked to commercial or customer outcomes.
