Purpose of the role
Support the Corporate Relations Director in shaping and implementing corporate and
functional communications strategies both internally and externally. The role also covers strategizing and implementation of the organization’s Strategy, Spirit of Progress, demonstrating the impact of the program to social economic development of communities and the country at large.
Additionally, the role involves enhancement of Staff Engagement and Financial Performance through the implementation of creative, impactful and effective communication strategies spanning across various platforms.
Key accountabilities
Communication
Internal
- Responsible for administration of all communications done across all the business units in SBL.
- Writing/editing staff newsletters, organisational updates and other internal programs / drives.
- Deepening staff engagement through unique and impactful communication spanning across various channels such as Townhall meetings, special Themed Weeks and other initiatives.
- Coming up with impactful and efficient communication Symbols and Rituals that keep Internal Communications fresh and engaging.
- Work with the Organization’s Top Management Team to ensure the leverage of ‘One Voice’ communication.
- Work with the various departments to ensure even distribution of communication that covers the whole organization.
External
- Overall responsibility for corporate communications and PR cycle plan and management of relevant agencies.
- Monitor the external environment to identify reputation building opportunities as well as threats to corporate reputation and respond accordingly.
- Determine the appropriate content and route for information cascades, by providing advice and support.
- Create and manage content for SBL’s online and social media channels.
- Manage PR agency contracts working for and on behalf of SBL in delivering agreed workstreams.
- Delivering on the Organization’s Strategy, Spirit of Progress
- Strategize on and implement the three pillars of the Organization’s Strategy, Spirit of Progress, namely: Promote Positive Drinking, Champion Inclusion and Diversity and Pioneer Grain to Glass .
- Responsible for the implementation and meeting KPIs for the Strategy Programs spanning from Promote Positive Drinking, Champion Inclusion and Diversity Programs and Water for Life projects market KPIs
- Create, manage and evaluate Strategic Partnerships with Project Partners, Government and Regulator stakeholders to drive the Spirit of Progress agenda.
- Socialise the Strategy across the Organization across all departments and Production Sites – end to end.
- Responsible in handling matters related to donations to and any community support related engagements.
- Showcase and win support for SBL’s Spirit of Progress initiatives by both internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with key stakeholders around our approach on Alcohol in Society, Inclusion and Diversity, agribusiness program, PWDs and identify community support initiatives.
- Drive implementation and of the Organization’s Agriculture Program, ‘Shamba Ni Mali’, ensuring impactful engagement with over 5,000 farmers that work with SBL.
- Mobilise support and involvement of other SBL business functions and staff in the implementation of community support programs.
- Prepare and disseminate timely reports on Spirit of Progress programs implementation.
- Provide inputs for the preparation of EABL’s Annual Integrated and Reports and organize for impactful and differentiated local launches of the Reports.
Qualification and experience required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations/public Relations /Journalism or related field.
Experience
- 4-6 years’ experience in public relations or activities.
- Working knowledge of business operations and strong commercial Awareness.
- Proven experience in building relationships with key partners at organizations.
- Has demonstrated good project management skills in implementing community support initiatives.
