Senior Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control)

We’re looking for Senior Project Engineers to support the safe delivery of installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault response across our high‑voltage Protection & Control systems. You’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, work hands‑on with critical network assets, and play a key role in introducing new technologies and digital substation solutions.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Site based engineering focusing on commissioning new assets, maintenance of new and legacy protection and control systems and fault management 

  • Work with the Operational Control Centre to optimise system performance. 

  • Build strong working relationships across Transmission Operations and wider departments. 

  • Champion safety and ensure full compliance with all legislation and company policies. 

  • Contribute actively to the Transmission Operations management team. 

  • Make balanced, informed decisions using risk frameworks and operational insight. 

  • Coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise productivity. 

What you’ll bring 

  • Engineering degree (BSc/Beng/Meng) or equivalent experience 

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications. 

  • Full UK driving licence. 

  • Experience in operational work within a DNO/TNO or similar environment. 

  • Solid understanding of Protection & Control systems, commissioning and maintenance practices.
