What you’ll be doing

ScottishPower’s Drawing Office is expanding to support significant growth in transmission projects, and we are looking for a Senior Engineering Designer to join the team.

In this role, you will act as the 3D/BIM focal point within the Drawing Office, supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering modelling and drawing solutions for transmission network projects (132kV and above).

Reporting into the wider Project Design Services function, you will play a key role in embedding BIM into day-to-day delivery, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and compliant with project, safety, and quality standards.

You will work closely with engineers, design leads, and the central BIM team to translate BIM strategy into practical workflows that enhance efficiency and delivery across live projects.

We are looking for a proactive and collaborative individual with strong BIM expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving continuous improvement within engineering design delivery.

At ScottishPower, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous development, where your expertise will help shape how BIM is implemented across a growing portfolio of critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineers and design leads in embedding BIM into business-as-usual project delivery.

  • Provide training, guidance, and troubleshooting on BIM tools and processes.

  • Deliver targeted 3D modelling and coordination support for complex or critical activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement in Drawing Office efficiency through BIM adoption.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience in BIM and 3D modelling within transmission, utilities, or complex infrastructure projects.

  • Expertise in BIM tools and workflows, with a strong understanding of design and engineering processes.

  • Experience implementing BIM standards and improving drawing office workflows.

  • Ability to support and guide multidisciplinary teams in BIM delivery.

  • Strong collaboration and skills.

  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.

  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
