What’s the role

Shell is seeking a Performance Chemicals Sales Executive to join its team in Houston.

The Performance Chemicals Sales Executive is a highly impactful role responsible for managing customer accounts within the Performance Chemicals portfolio. Performance Surfactants and Ethylene Oxide products are used in everyday items such as laundry detergents, hand and dish soaps, and body wash. They are also utilized in oilfield chemicals, water treatment, plasticizers, and a wide range of other applications.

This role involves managing complex customer relationships to understand their needs and, in collaboration with the Sales Manager and Marketing team, delivering value propositions that meet customer requirements. Traditional sales responsibilities such as safety/regulatory compliance, contract negotiation and management, and relationship management are fundamental to this role. Within Shell, this role is expected to serve as the “voice of the customer” and is responsible for fostering a customer-centric environment across the relationships they manage.

Accountabilities:

  • Execute the commercial safety/regulatory plan in partnership with Site and Supply Operations colleagues

  • Deliver the Sales plan Volume & Margin targets agreed in the annual Business Plan

  • Day-to-day management of customer relationships to maximize value for Shell with a customer centric focus

  • Lead strategic negotiations that deliver win-win value propositions to our customers

  • Complete ownership of customer contracts, including ensuring full contract value delivery

  • Awareness of all aspects of the customer relationship and defines connections to increase customer centricity

  • Develop/strengthen strategic customer relationships to help enable Chemicals business priorities

  • Help Sales Manager and Marketing develop and execute Commercial Contracting Strategy

  • Support Marketing organization by gathering market intelligence, including supply/demand changes, competitive market pricing and movement in overall market dynamics

  • Liaise closely with Shell Safety, Supply, Logistics, Marketing, Product Stewardship, and Quality teams for commercial contract delivery

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in sales, commercial B2B negotiation, and contract execution, preferably within the chemical industry

  • Experience in contract writing is a plus

  • Strong commercial acumen

  • Proven relationship management experience in a B2B setting

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
