Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead the business relationship and strategic development of assigned clients, ensuring alignment of objectives, priorities, and resources between Visa and clients in line with Visa’s strategy in Mexico.
- Position Visa as the preferred partner by developing a deep understanding of clients’ business strategies, priorities, decision-making processes, operational needs, and market challenges, and by translating that knowledge into strategic recommendations that drive measurable business results.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans with clearly defined objectives, goals, initiatives, and success metrics, leveraging both Visa and client resources to deliver against business priorities.
- Support and grow assigned client accounts by identifying and securing new business opportunities, renewals, and re-engagements through a consultative sales approach.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their business needs and challenges, fostering innovation and continuous improvement, and recommending tailored Visa products, services, and solutions.
- Provide strong consultative leadership on strategic acceptance initiatives, including cross-functional and transversal topics that are relevant to the broader Visa Mexico strategy, helping clients advance acceptance priorities across products, channels, and stakeholder groups.
- Identify, develop, and strengthen business opportunities across both traditional and digital domains, including areas such as Debit, Premium Products, Acquiring, Acceptance, and other relevant Visa capabilities.
- Manage and support the implementation of Visa products, services, and business initiatives, ensuring clear definition and follow-through on objectives, scope, budget, documentation, timelines, governance, and delivery.
- Maintain disciplined account planning and pipeline management to meet or exceed revenue, payment volume, market penetration, and other business development goals.
- Manage existing contractual commitments and ensure clients are equipped with the most appropriate Visa products and services to support their business objectives.
- Build, develop, and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders across all levels and functions within client organizations, understanding formal and informal decision-making structures to drive effective engagement.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Visa to ensure alignment, prioritization, and successful execution of client and business development initiatives.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term partnership value by delivering exceptional service, proactively addressing issues, and resolving concerns effectively and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and follow-up skills to manage compliance-related topics, including tracking commitments, documentation, contractual obligations, internal controls, governance requirements, and regulatory matters with accuracy, visibility, and timely escalation when needed.
- Maintain structured oversight of action items, dependencies, risks, and escalations to ensure disciplined execution and proper follow-up across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards across all stakeholder interactions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, industry developments, digital trends, and regulatory changes, and use these insights to inform strategic recommendations and identify growth opportunities for both clients and Visa.
- Optimize the use of resources, investments, and client budgets, including incentives and other commercial levers, to maximize value and support business growth.
- Be accountable for achieving financial and business targets across assigned clients, including revenue, payment volume, market penetration, and overall portfolio performance.
- Support sound P&L management across assigned clients by balancing growth opportunities, investment decisions, and business performance objectives.
- Make decisions on strategic and tactical matters within the scope of responsibility, and appropriately escalate issues requiring senior management involvement.
- Contribute to the development and strengthening of consulting practices, benchmarking approaches, and client engagement models that help optimize client operations and business performance.
- Support Visa issuing clients through dedicated relationship management and ongoing business development support.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or client-facing commercial roles.
- Proven experience managing and growing client relationships while identifying and developing new revenue opportunities.
- Experience developing strategic account plans and executing against commercial objectives and business growth targets.
- Strong understanding of the acquiring business, including key market dynamics, merchant ecosystem needs, and commercial drivers.
- Understanding of acceptance technologies and payment acceptance trends across physical, digital, and emerging channels.
- Ability to provide consultative support on strategic acceptance topics, including transversal initiatives aligned with Visa’s strategy in Mexico.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across different organizational levels.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to connect client needs to commercial solutions and measurable outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally, and drive initiatives from opportunity identification through execution.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track compliance-related matters, contractual obligations, documentation, and follow-up actions in a structured and timely manner.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver client solutions and execute strategic initiatives effectively.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, make sound strategic and tactical decisions, and escalate issues appropriately when needed.
- Knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, digital payments, and regulatory considerations relevant to the payments industry is a plus.
- Fluent communication in English and Spanish is required. Portuguese is a plus.
