Job description

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, overseeing Impact Assessment, Planning and Permitting for mining and energy facilities throughout North America. This role will lead environmental impact assessment and permitting for mining and energy facilities and other major capital development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience permitting complex development projects in the mining and energy sector along with technical expertise leading environmental, local, state-level, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for large-scale capital projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform complex permitting and compliance associated with mining and energy sector development projects
  • Manage and lead the preparation of permitting documents for mining and energy facility development
  • Oversee project delivery activities such as report writing, data collection, and developing recommendations for clients
  • Serve in roles ranging from project manager, task manager, technical expert, and QA/QC of deliverables
  • Contribute technical expertise on permitting strategies, due diligence reviews, and environmental critical issues assessments
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development
  • Manage and work within quality/budget/schedule expectations
  • Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to execute impact assessment and capital project permitting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental management, or related field
  • 6+ years of project management, licensing and permitting experience
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting
  • Experience assisting clients in obtaining multi-media permits and approvals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations (10%)

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in related field
  • 10+ years of project management, licensing and permitting experience

Compensation:

  • Annual base pay: $115,000 – $127,315 USD
  • Eligible for annual discretionary performance bonus
