Job description

As the world's leading sustainability consulting firm, ERM is uniquely positioned to contribute to the environment and society through the expertise and energy of our employees worldwide. Sustainability is what we do and is at the heart of both our service offerings and how we operate our business. For our people, our vision means attracting, inspiring, developing and rewarding our people to work with the best clients and on the biggest challenges, thus creating valuable careers. We achieve our vision in a sustainable manner by maintaining and living our ERM values that include Accountability, Caring for our People, Client Focus, Collaboration, Empowerment, and Transparency.

The changing climate will present unprecedented risks and shifts in business models as companies adapt to meet the needs of climate-impacted consumers and markets. Whether advising on strategies that respond to the decarbonising economy, or building resilience in the face of warming and more volatile weather, ERM seeks Principal Consultants who are energized to help businesses address the climate challenge and have experience integrating climate strategy into sustainability, risk management and corporate processes.

You will work with clients as a subject matter expert. As a project manager you will lead teams, manage the project budget and be a trusted advisor.

Our services:

  • ERM has unparalleled experience working with large listed businesses to assess the impacts of climate change, including physical and transition risks, and identifying opportunities to enhance adaptation capacity.
  • Climate risk and resilience strategy development: Risk and vulnerability assessments including modelling asset-specific and supply chain risks using proprietary models, scenario analysis, and financial quantification - informing the development of strategies for resilience.
  • Climate disclosures and transition planning: Mandatory disclosure support, including gap analysis and compliance roadmaps, target setting (eg SBTi) and transition strategy development.
  • Navigating carbon markets: India's upcoming CCTS (Carbon Credit Unit Trading Scheme) price forecasting, offset strategy development, project due diligence, market engagement and transaction support, leveraging ERM wider network
  • GHG Accounting: Performing accounting across all 3 scopes, across different industries
  • Undertaking due diligence: Assessing potential physical and transition risks for investors and corporates on major investment decisions, including acquisitions of new businesses and investment in major infrastructure.

The focus areas for this role will be to:

  • Lead client engagements, develop sustainability and climate change strategies, and mentor junior team members.
  • Work closely with clients to identify opportunities for improvement, lead complex sustainability projects, and contribute to business development efforts.

Requirements:

  • 10-12 years' experience in climate risk, GHG accounting and strategy, including physical/transition risk assessment, scenario analysis, financial analysis and adaptation strategy.
  • Extensive experience in leading project teams on end-to-end project delivery, including stakeholder facilitation, executive presentations and quality assurance.
  • High level of familiarity and proven experience with climate disclosure regimes, including TCFD, ASRS, CSRD.
  • Well-developed understanding of the drivers of business' response to climate change – local and global policy settings, the expectations of the investment community, the requirements of regulators, the rise of climate litigation, technological innovation, social license and the concerns of communities, employees, and customers.
  • Experience in commercial strategy and business transformation.
  • Business development acumen and the ability to manage client relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with complex information and extract the most valuable insights.
