Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Associate Analyst will be a part of the Government Research team, joining colleagues on a specialized sub-team of Sustainalytics' global ESG Research Team. The Associate Analyst will support the Country Risk Rating, Sub-Sovereign Rating and Country Events products, which assess how well countries or sub-sovereigns utilize and manage their natural, produced and institutional capital to generate long-term wealth and prosperity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor country news across a range of topics (e.g. transnational conflict, civil conflict, violent crime, natural and environmental disasters, state repression, discrimination, labor rights, and corruption and fraud).
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of relevant events and their potential to impact countries' natural, produced and institutional capitals, as well as the on ability of countries to manage their wealth.
  • Ability to present research insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the quality and timely publication of research deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of analyst guidance, research process documentation and technical solutions to improve research quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in responding to client queries, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the organization, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree in a related discipline (business, finance and/or social science).
  • 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in country and/or ESG research, country risk analysis.
  • Independent and resourceful nature.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, international and technical environment, as well as to embrace change.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to form good working relationships with colleagues of all levels and across cultures.
  • Excellent business English (speaking and writing skills).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Alignment with Sustainalytics' mission, vision and values.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Responsible Investment market.
  • Experience in using reporting and planning tools (e.g. PowerBI, Asana, etc.)
