Job Summary:
About the Role & Team
The Environmental Compliance Representative will help ensure the Environmental Affairs Division continues to provide world class environmental compliance services to the Walt Disney World Resort. The role will conduct field audits, inspections of hazardous and regulated waste accumulation areas, inventory and inspections of air emission and refrigeration equipment, inventory of regulated oil units as required by Spill Pollution Prevention Plans (SPCC), assist with storage tank compliance inspections and recordkeeping, conduct training classes for various environmental programs, inspect and aid with public pools compliance, and conduct construction and contractor inspections. This position will serve on the WDW HazMat Duty Team for spills and other environmental events 24/7. The candidate must have scheduling flexibility as this role requires periodic early morning and late-night field work, meetings, and training sessions. Additionally, this position requires working outdoors, in industrial areas, extensive walking/standing, and lifting of objects that may weigh up to 50lbs.
What You Will Do
- Operational Compliance Audits – Perform routine compliance audits of company, construction, and contractor operations to ensure compliance with hazardous waste, other regulated waste, fuel and chemical storage, air pollution, stormwater, sanitary sewer, biomedical, solid waste, refrigerant and wildlife programs.
- Construction Compliance – Review construction projects for environmental issues during all phases of construction, stormwater pollution prevention plans, erosion control, fuel and chemical storage, threatened & endangered species review and contractor regulated waste handling training.
- Swimming Pool and Aquatic Features –Responsibilities include regulation review on new designs and operations, construction oversight, routine compliance inspections, water quality assessments, coordinating regulatory agency inspections, recordkeeping, and Aquatic Facility Operator certification training.
- Storage Tank Compliance – Assist with overall compliance of regulated storage tank program. This includes filing monthly and annual inspections, performing routine field audits, coordinating inspections with regulatory agencies, updating operating guidelines, and responding to issues in the field.
- Biomedical Waste Management – Manage the collection and disposal of biomedical wastes generated from resort, laundry, and park operations. Routinely update operating plans for Walt Disney World, Health Services, Veterinary Services and Living Seas. Perform periodic waste recognition training with Cast.
- Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure – Support the development and implementation of spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plans at locations across property. Responsibilities include field verification of regulated units such as waste cooking oil, oil drums, fuel tanks, hydraulic units, and recordkeeping.
- Spill Response – Respond to chemical and sewage spills or releases. Review all spills for agency reporting requirements. Coordinate agency follow-ups, as necessary.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to assess scientific and engineering-based situations, respond to inquiries and develop compliance protocols and solutions.
- Ability to interpret and apply environmental laws and regulations to a variety of operations.
- Effectively make presentations and provide training to individuals and large groups.
- Ability to interpret information on Safety Data Sheets to make a waste type determination.
- Dedicated, resourceful and the willingness to work alone or with others of diverse set of backgrounds.
- Ability to create and foster relationships across a variety of backgrounds and lines of business.
- Excellent written, verbal and computer skills (SharePoint, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
- Be comfortable working outdoors for long periods of time, potentially in early morning or late at night.

- Hazardous and regulated waste regulations (RCRA, FDEP, US EPA)
- Storage tank and SPCC regulations
- State and federal air quality regulations (Title V, refrigerant, permitting and compliance)
- Swimming pool and aquatic facility regulation (Aquatic Facility Operator)
- NPDES regulations (Stormwater and Dewatering)
- HAZWOPER Emergency Response Training (24 hour or higher)
- Bilingual skills
Education
- BS degree in a science (Environmental, Zoology, Geology, Biology, Chemistry) or Engineering related field and/or equivalent work experience.
