Job description

Your team responsibilities

The Climate data collection team is responsible for research related to climate datasets for approximately 13K companies. The team's data collection is focused on climate-related metrics, which include carbon emissions, climate change targets and commitments, using a variety of sources, such as annual reports, sustainability reports, news publications, and other company disclosures.

  • Strong command of MS Excel (data entry including navigating a few spreadsheets in a file, lookup data from other sheets)
  • Use of snipping and annotation tools for saving snapshots
  • Understanding of SharePoint Document Library/Teams for file transfer and communication
  • How to navigate company websites - investor relations section
  • Extracting data from aggregating websites including exchanges and regulatory sites (Ex: Sec.gov, SEDAR, different exchanges, Cninfo etc.)

Your key responsibilities

Your role will involve data collection and analysis for Climate data-Emissions, Carbon credits and Carbon Projects

  • Collect data for climate datasets that includes Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, GHG reduction targets, TCFD data, Carbon Credits and Carbon Projects
  • Contributing and Leading transformation projects, driving initiatives to improve the Quality of data
  • Your key task would include analysing, collecting the data and also review (QA) the data
  • Familiarity with public company reporting, including SEC filings, annual reports, sustainability reports, financial statements, interim report structure, bond prospectus and corporate governance documents
  • Familiarity with capital markets, esp. navigating stock details on exchanges
  • Understand common corporate events and how it impacts securities and issuers
  • Understanding of different types of listings issued within and across different countries (the USA, Japan, UK and China)
  • Building SOP, guidance for improving the data collection process
  • Collaborating with teams across different geographies and client teams
  • Familiarity with data protection, and infringement guidelines (knowing which websites can data be downloaded from)

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, statistics, sustainability, environmental science, energy sciences, business, or environment
  • Knowledge of climate change issues and regulations, including carbon offsets, climate reporting standards (e.g. TCFD, ISSB) and frameworks (e.g. IPCC, UNFCCC, etc)
  • Background on GHG assessments, TCFD, GRI reporting, Voluntary Carbon Markets
  • Has background on nature based projects for eg: REDD+
  • Analytical approach to data collection – asks questions to make sense of data, esp. when data collection needs investigation
  • Detail-oriented. Ability to spot errors, and connect the dots regarding the task that they have been allocated
  • Ability to follow SOPs and extend them in case of uncovered exceptions
  • Ability to make and defend sound and consistent judgments. Show expertise when needed
  • Intrinsically motivated to improve their own performance and constantly consider ways to improve the processes they work with
