Line of Service Assurance Industry/Sector FS X-Sector Specialism Sustainability Management Level Associate
A career in our Sustainability practice, within Risk Assurance Compliance and Analytics services, will provide you with the opportunity to assist clients in developing analytics and technology solutions that help them detect, monitor, and predict risk. Using advanced technology, we're able to focus on establishing the right controls, processes and structures for our clients to ensure that decisions are based on accurate information and assure that information provided to third parties is accurate, complete, and can be trusted.
Our team helps organizations plan, source, deliver, finance and measure the wider impact of products and services. We're helping future proof businesses by making them more resilient and sustainable. You'll focus on identifying and prioritizing sustainability issues, setting goals that support alignment and integration of the sustainability vision into overall corporate strategy, and implementing processes, controls, systems, and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting.
Meaningful work you'll be part of
As a Climate Change Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Apply analytical skills and specialist technical knowledge of climate science, adaptation, GHG emissions and/or other areas of climate change to solve client's most pressing climate-related challenges.
- Continue to develop your technical understanding of climate change and how it applies to business, investment, and government decision making; and support internal and external thought leadership on specialist issues within climate change.
- Be supported by a team of climate change and sustainability experts.
- Gain experience across a range of sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, energy, mining, industry, public sector, infrastructure, and over time develop a focus in one or more of these.
- Contribute effectively to complex, multi-disciplinary projects – often supporting several projects at a time.
- Develop and grow your career, with the goal of becoming a subject matter expert on one or more of decarbonisation, transition planning, climate risk, resilience, or other topics within climate change.
- Support clients and PwC colleagues to build their capacity in climate change.
- Contribute to proposals and other business development activities.
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
- An educational and/or applied background in one or more of climate science, nature/environment, engineering, financial analysis, or economics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of at least one of the following areas: climate science; physical and transition risk assessments, GHG accounting and knowledge of the GHG Protocol or related standards; target setting, such as through knowledge of SBTi guidance or related frameworks; or nature and biodiversity, including environmental assessments or nature-related topics such as water, waste, forestry, land use, etc.
- Experience with Excel, and other statistical or quantitative tools.
- Computer programming skills (e.g., Python, R) and knowledge of geospatial analysis and GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) is an asset.
- Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to lead and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Strong personal initiative, agility and resourcefulness.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives.
