Perennial

MMRV platform measuring soil carbon and field-level emissions reductions for agriculture, anywhere on Earth

Perennial builds software and data tools for measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verifying (MMRV) soil carbon and greenhouse gas outcomes in agriculture. Its platform serves corporate sustainability teams managing Scope 3 agricultural emissions and carbon project developers running soil carbon crediting programs. By combining digital soil mapping, remote sensing, and light physical sampling, Perennial produces registry-grade measurements without the dense, costly sampling that makes most MMRV approaches hard to scale.

Why it matters

Soil holds enormous potential as a carbon sink, but verifying that potential credibly - at field level, across diverse crops and geographies - has been a major bottleneck for climate-smart agriculture. Perennial addresses this directly: its workflows are approved under Verra standards (VM0042, VM0032) and aligned with SBTi FLAG, CSRD, and the Gold Standard, meaning the data it produces can feed into both carbon markets and corporate sustainability reporting. The company also led development of VT0014, the Verra-approved tool for quantifying soil organic carbon via digital soil mapping, which broadens access to registry-grade MMRV globally.

The platform covers multiple crops, land-use types, and certifications through a single solution, allowing programs to expand to new regions without waiting years for model validation.
