HELVETASESG & Sustainability Jobs
Swiss development organization working on water, climate resilience, skills, and livelihoods across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe
Helvetas is an independent Swiss development organization operating in roughly 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. It runs projects in water and sanitation, food security, vocational training, governance, gender equity, and humanitarian response, serving smallholder farmers, young people, migrants, and marginalized communities.
Why it matters
Climate resilience sits at the core of Helvetas' work. The organization helps communities adapt farming practices to climate change, trains people for jobs in renewable energy and the circular economy, and builds infrastructure - such as bridges and water systems - that reduces vulnerability. In 2025, over 933,000 people worked with Helvetas to protect their livelihoods against long-term climate effects, and nearly 96,000 smallholder farmers adapted their practices and measurably increased yields.
At reported scale, Helvetas reaches close to seven million people annually. Its advisory services arm also supports governments and other organizations in designing development and climate adaptation programs, making it a relevant employer for sustainability and ESG professionals focused on international development.
