Climate Action Now (CAN) is a mobile app and membership platform that makes climate advocacy accessible to everyday people. Users complete daily actions - calling or emailing elected officials, signing petitions, attending virtual action parties, and sharing messages on social media - through a streamlined interface designed to remove friction from the process. The app also connects actions to real tree planting, so users accumulate trees on their behalf as they engage.

Why it matters

The core mechanism is political and civic pressure at scale: by making it fast to contact legislators and business leaders, CAN aims to shift policy outcomes on climate. Since launching on Earth Day 2021, the community has logged over 4.4 million actions, sent more than 3.7 million messages to decision-makers, and planted over 617,000 trees. The platform also offers corporate services, coalition membership, and gift options for habitat and rainforest protection, extending its reach beyond individual users to organizations.
