European soil carbon platform connecting farmers to regenerative agriculture finance and verified carbon credits
Agreena operates a soil carbon programme that helps farmers across Europe transition to regenerative agriculture practices. It offers three linked products: Verra-verified carbon credits sold to companies seeking high-integrity offsets, independently verified Impact Units that help food and drink brands reduce Scope 3 supply chain emissions, and AgreenaGro, a platform giving farmers data, community, and new revenue streams.
Why it matters
Conventional farming depletes soil organic matter and releases carbon. Regenerative practices - reduced tillage, cover cropping, crop rotation - rebuild soil health and sequester carbon. Agreena quantifies that sequestration at field level using satellite imagery, ground-truth data, and AI aligned with IPCC methodology, then issues credits verified by Verra, the leading global carbon standard. This channels corporate climate finance directly to farmers, making the economics of transition viable at scale.
Agreena describes itself as the largest soil carbon programme in Europe, with more than 5 million hectares transitioning across roughly 20 countries and over 2,500 farmers enrolled. Its headquarters are in Copenhagen, with an additional office in London.
